Today is a very special day in my life as I begin my blog My Journal of Existence. I hope you will join me as I journey into the world of fiber. For an introduction please check out about fiberbinder.
2010 has been an exciting year so far. I have joined the (HGA) Handweavers Guild of America and the MN Weaver’s Guild so that I can continue my quest for knowledge of all things fiber.
Projects I am currently working on:
Handspinning a wonderful Icelandic sheep fleece that I bought in the grease at Shepherds Harvest and had washed. I am hand carding the Icelandic with angora and mohair, spinning it into a textured yarn. I am practicing my drafting and working on the consistency of my wpi. Other fiber stash that I am working on is some gorgeous black alpaca and the lovely Dreamgirl llama. Dreamgirl is an auburn llama that belongs to my friend JoAnn. I would like to thank JoAnn for all her guidance and sharing her knowledge of llamas with me. JoAnn showed me how to shear a llama as well as prepare a them for show. JoAnn is one of the Llama Ladies that I love to sit and spin with.
Knitting merino socks two at a time toe up, the magic loop. An alpaca shrug with a metalic thread that I have been putting off pulling out some and having to rework as I did not purchase enough of the thread and ran short (it is discontinued now)
Iguess that is why you should always purchase enough to complete the project. Cotton dish cloths I am making to learn the various knitting patterns.
Crocheting a pair of socks and working the various patterns in dish cloths.
Events I am looking forward to: are Shepherds Harvest held at the Washington County Fair Grounds, MN.
Bren,
It’s great to be able to keep up with you and your fiber journey!
